Don’t be fooled by the tropical styling’s of Soho’s extremely hip new pop-up ‘Club Tropicana’…Seminal 80’s cult brand Bodymap is back!!
No it’s not the piña coladas talking, it’s not even a mirage! There’s a beachy pop-up that’s opened on Upper James Street just in time for the heatwave, and low and behold an exclusive collection of BODYMAP is inside!
Curated by the brilliantly gifted print designer Lisa King and celeb adored Italian eyewear label Zanzan, Club Tropicana is your one-stop summer shop in the heart of Soho..open for a mere 10 days!! Beautifully laid out with King’s bold swimwear, scarves and kaftans, leafy palms, a heap of haute sunnies, rare art & fashion books and out of print magazines from collector July Stars, oh yeah and did I mention BODYMAP!!!
Iconic fashion label BodyMap rose to fame in the early 80’s, post-Punk, New Romantic period when street and club styles dominated the British fashion scene. A pivotal point in defining the style of the time BodyMap was described as “perhaps the hottest, most visually arresting company in Britain’s design renaissance” and a respected cult fashion reference to London fashion today.
So when King’s hot to trot pop-up opened the doors this week it’s no surprise the news of her limited edition BodyMap collection began making waves in the fashion community. Baby onesies, t-shirts and totes are among other highly coveted pieces all totally exclusive and made to order for Club Tropicana by none other than Stevie Stewart herself and David Holah who has also included some art prints up for grabs!
There’s travel notebooks by artist Petra Börner, hats and bags handcrafted by artisan’s from across the globe, jewellery inspired by Dante’s ‘Divine Comedy’ and a handful of last minute events taking place. Check it out while it’s hot and before it’s gone with the summer breeze!
