Punk rock legends The Damned Are back! celebrating 40 years together with a live gig and their first official rock Doc ‘Don’t You Wish We Were Dead Yet’
Gothic punk, Brit rebels The Damned return to the big smoke! Toasting 4 decades on the scene together and their prolific impact as not only one of the first UK punk bands to release a single and tour the US, but also as one of the last original ones still standing…. stumbling….and rocking out.
With their 40th anniversary looming next year, there seemed like no better time than the present to celebrate. Earlier this week the Damned’s first ever authorised documentary ‘Dont You Wish We Were Dead Yet’ debuted in London, following it’s premiere and huge praise at this year’s SXSW festival in Austin TX.
The film (directed by music journo and Lemmy/Motorhead doc director Wes Orshoski) charts the history, past and present of the punk pioneers. Featuring all four original members of the Damned (Captain Sensible, Dave Vanian, Brian James and Rat Scabies). Plus appearances by Chrissie Hynde , Mick Jones , Steve Diggle (Buzzcocks) , Pink Floyd, Guns N Roses, Lemmy Kilmister , Keith Morris (Black Flag/Circle Jerks/OFF!), The Offspring and many more.
Tonight the band finishes off the week ‘Neat Neat Neat’. Playing a ‘Best Of’ set at the Roundhouse and showing not much has changed over the years in the camp of the Damned, as they blaze on with incendiary live shows across the globe, classic releases and reviews, and as ever their very loyal audience!
